Joe J. Collins, resident of the Talty community, passed away at a local hospital early Tuesday morning. Rosary was recited at 8:00 PM Tuesday and requiem mass was held at St. Martin's Catholic Church at Talty at 9:30 AM Wednesday with Father Francis Brady as celbrant. Pallbearers were P.J. Maloney, Pat Maloney, Mart Layden, Mike Costello, Curt Adams, and Will Sline. Interment was in Oakland Memorial Park. Joseph John Collins was a native of Kaufman County, born at Talty on June 20, 1897. He spent his entire life on the farm which he was born. He was engaged in farming in the "black land" of Kaufman County and was quite successful in this endeavor. He was the son of the late Pat and Margaret Collins, both natives of Ireland, pioneer settlers in the Talty community. Surving him are; two brothers, Mike and Dennis Collins of Talty; five nephews, Martin, P.J., Dennis and Joe Collins, all of Dallas, Tom Collins of Fort Worth; three nieces, Mrs. Pat McCusker of Chicago, Mrs. Atwell of Lubbock, Miss Mary Collins of Jennings, La.
