Dennis M. Collins, a practically life-time resident of the Talty community, passed away suddenly in Dallas early Thursday morning of last week. Rosary was recited from the Anderson-Clayton Chapel in Terrell at 8:15 Friday with the Rev. Francis Y. Gabryl leading. Requiem Mass was held from St. Martin's Church in Talty at 10 o'clock Saturday morning with Rev. Francis Brady as celebrand. Interment was in Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell.
Mr. Collins, the eldest son of the late Pat Collins and Margaret Layden Collins, was born in a covered wagon in St. Joseph, Missouri, on August 1, 1873. The family came to Texas that year and settled on the Irish Ridge in Kaufman County. He had lived in that community (Talty) his entire life until a year and a half ago when he moved to Dallas. His business had been farming. He was married to Miss Elizabeth O'Connor in 1902 and to this union six children were born. His wife and one son preceded him in death. Surviving are: three sons, Martin Collins and Dennis M. Collins of Dallas and P.J. Collins of Talty. Two daughters, Mrs. Bill Atwell of Lubbock and Mrs. Pat McCusker of S. Bend, Ind.
Note: According to the Texas Death Index, a "Dennin" Collins died on September 29, 1960 in Dallas County.
