LONGVIEW, Texas, Dec. 6 - Two undefeated and untied elevens, Coach Weldon Strain’s Forney Jackrabbits and Coach Bob Bates’ Garrison Bulldogs, will meet for the regional Class B championship at Lobo Stadium in Longview Friday at 8 p.m.

The two teams mutually agreed on Longview as a neutral site for the regional clash, which is as far as Class B teams advance in the interscholastic league play-offs.

Forney is the highest-scoring eleven in Texas football with 537 points in eleven games, while the Jackrabbits also have the leading individual scorer in state schoolboy circles in Halfback J.C. Mitchell, who has personally accounted for 193 points.

The Jackrabbits, champions of District 17-B, won the bidistrict crown last week by defeating Judson of District 18-B, 40 to 13.

Garrison, District 19-B titleholder, won its bidistrict championship when Deport of District 20-B forfeited.

The Bulldogs also have a high-scoring eleven, having chalked up 328 points. Both Garrison and Forney have shown rock-ribbed defenses. Garrison has allowed the opposition only 20 points and Forney has given up but 45.

In Halfback Fred (Jigger) Bussa, the Bulldogs have a runner who might turn the regional contest into a personal duel with Mitchell. Also a speedy, breakaway runner, Bussa is likewise one of the state’s highest-scoring backs with 120 points to his credit.

Forney holds victories over three Class A teams and Garrison defeated two. The Jackrabbits trounced Ferris, Seagoville and Rockwall while the Bulldogs downed Diboll and Timpson in their first two outings.
