Requiem Mass was conducted in St. Martin's Catholic Church in Talty at 10 a.m. Thursday for William Owen (Billy) Costello, Sr., 47. Rosary was recited Wednesday evening at 8 in the Anderson-Clayton Funeral Chapel. Father Casimir Glogowski was in charge of the rituals. Mr. Costello died in the Dallas Veterans Hospital Tuesday afternoon following an extended illness. He was a patient in the hospital for several months. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Mr. Costello, a native of Forney, was born August 11, 1920. He served in the armed forces during World War II. Following his discharge he became a mail carrier and worked in that position until ill health forced his retirement. He was married to Ruth Maxine Crawford in June, 1945. She survives him. In addition to Mrs. Costello, he is survived by two sons, William Owen Costello, Jr. and David Thomas Costello, one daughter, Jane Elizabeth Costello, all of Forney; his mother Mrs. Augusta Costello, three brothers, Tom Costello and Pat Costello of Dallas, and Dennis Costello of Mesquite, and two sisters; Mrs. Catherine Ratcliffe of Dallas and Mrs. Fred Goodnight of Austin. Pallbearers for the funeral were Ray Adams, C.L. McCuistion, M.C. Blackburn, Orville Hardin, E.R. Thomas, Conway Senter, O.V. Stark and Dick Neal. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney.
Note: The Texas Death Index shows William Costello died February 6, 1968 in Dallas County. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in Texas on November 19, 1942.
