William Ancil Newton, Sr., resident of Forney, died in a local hospital late Thursday afternoon. Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church in Forney at 10:00 A.M. Saturday with the Rev. Jerry Griffin and the Rev. L.B. Jenkins officiating. Interment was in the Newton cemetery in the Markout community with Masonic graveside rites.
Mr. Newton, a son of the late W.P. Newton and Fannie Williams Newton, was born in Forney, Texas on August 7, 1888. He has lived his entire life in and near Forney where he was engaged in farming.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was married to Ruby Warden on October 9, 1924 and to this union two children were born. Surviving him are: his wife, Mrs. Ruby Newton of Forney; two sons, William A. Newton, Jr. and Darrell P. Newton, both of Forney; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. O.L. Nance of Forney; a number of nieces and nephews; and other relatives.
Pallbearers were, Duke Lagge, Preston Pritchett, Kenneth Robertson, Roger Richman, Jim Quinn, and Jesse English.
Note: William Ancil Newton is buried at the Newton Family Cemetery. Cemetery records show he was born July 7, 1889 and died April 9, 1969. The SSDI has an even different birthdate - August 7, 1888, and the Texas Death Index shows he died April 10, 1969.
