TERRELL - Funeral services were held Thursday in Forney for U.S. Piatt, 85, retired cotton ginner who died Wednesday at his home in Forney.
A native of Tennessee, Mr. Piatt resided in Dallas until 1922, when he moved to Forney. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evangeline Piatt; three daughters, Mrs. Fredia Daniell of Dallas, Mrs. Jessie Miller of Forney and Mrs.Lucille Reeves of California; one son, Hammond Piatt; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Walter C. Cox of Dallas; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral rites were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Anderson-Clayton Funeral Chapel for U.S. :Piatt, wit the Rev. C.E. Cox officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest cemetery. Mr. Piatt passed away at his home Wednesday after a lengthy illness.
Ulysses Simpson Piatt was born in Tennessee on January 22, 1877. He came to Texas as a young man and lived in Dallas until 1922 when he moved to Forney where he has lived since that time. He was a cotton ginner until his retirement.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Evangeline Piatt of Forney; three daughters, Mrs. Fredia Daniell of Dallas, Mrs. Jessie Miller of Forney, Mrs. Lucille Reeves of Californnia; one son, Hammond Piatt; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Mrs. Walter C. Cox of Dallas.
Note: Ulysses Simpson Piatt is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery next to his wife, Evangeline Lee Piatt. He was born January 22, 1877 and died September 26, 1962.
