Mrs. Lottie Elizabeth Hatley, widow of the late V.B. Hatley, passed away at an early hour Tuesday morning at the family residence. The funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon with Rev. L.M. Joines, pastor, conducting the services. Interment was in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Nephews were pallbearers. They were Virgil Nash, L.L. Holt, Carnes Holt, all of Dallas; Curtis Hall and Clifford Hall of Rockwall, and Kenneth Robertson, Forney.
Mrs. Lottie Elizabeth McFarland Hatley was born in Kaufman County on October 17, 1882. She resided in and near Forney all her life.
She married Van Hatley on July 30, 1901, to which union 10 children were born, one of whom with her husband, preceded her in death. Surviving are five sons: Verner of Dallas; Lewis, Fowler, Warren of Forney; Ernest in Germany. Four daughters: Mrs. J.A. Borth, Forney; Mrs. L.R. Ash, Mesquite; Mrs. C.S. Lewis, Jr., Forney; four granddaughters and one grandson. Three sisters, Mrs. Tom Hall of Rockwall, Mrs. Edd Futrell of Durant, Okla.; Mrs. Geo. Nash and Mrs. Myrtle Nash of Forney; two brothers, Bud McFarland of Dallas.
Mrs. Hatley had been a member of the Forney Baptist Church since early childhood. This community has never had a better citizen or mother than Mrs. Hatley. She had time to administer to the needy and sick while rearing a large family of her own.
The community and church have sustained a great loss in the passing of this noble woman.
