Death of Henry Stephenson
Obituary
Forney Tribune
Tuesday Morning, July 2, 1889, Page 3

Henry Stephenson, brakeman on the North-western branch of the H.&T.C. railroad, was instantly killed last Thursday morning near Alexander, Texas, by being struck on the head while passing under a covered bridge on that road. In attempting to pass over the baggage car to another car the train ran under the bridge. He stooped to miss the top timbers and was struck on the head on the line of the frontal and occipital bones of the skull, scattering his brains all over the top of the car. In falling his lifeless body was lodged against a stovepipe on top of the coach, and was carried about thirty miles before it was found out that he was killed. Immediately after this sad news reached his parents at Walnut Springs, they telegraphed to Dr. N.B. Shands and wife of this place to come immediately, Mrs. Shands being a sister of the unfortunate young man. They left on the trian Thursday night to attend his burial which occurred Friday. Henry was but 19 years of age. A bright, industrious and spirited young man. He formerly resided in Forney where he has many warm, personal friends. He moved to Walnut Springs about four years ago with his parents. But now he is numbered with the race of the dead in the silent tomb, leaving parental hearst all lacerated and bleeding for their beloved boy, a brother and sisters with tearful eyes and friends with deep emotional feelings for his terrible and sudden departure. Peace be to his quiet slumbers.

(Note: Buried at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs, Bosque County, Texas. b. 11 APR 1870 d. 27 JUN 1889 Son of M.T. (Milledge or Millard) & S.A. (Sarah) Barnes STEPHENSON)
