Died at Forney, July 22nd, 1911, Mrs. Hattie Self Reagin, aged 43 years, 9 months, 19 days.

Since motherhood and mother love came into her life she has been an invalid, yet she never murmured, never faltered.

All that has been so lovingly said of her is true. Not a flower placed upon her grave was sweeter or more pure than the life just ended, in its perfect faith and trust and obedience to Him who doeth all things well.

Her life was builded, perfected and completed on "The Rock of Ages."

She was a woman of strong character and of undaunted courage, patient, tender and brave. Her word was pure gold; not an untruth in all her life can be held against her. She was true to all that goes to make a glorious womanhood.

In the home life - to husband, children and friends she was beautiful. There we found her at her best, to her we carried our joy, our sorrow, our heartache and tears - she met us with a smile and sent us away cheered and comforted. Back of every smile we knew was pain and a love for us nourished by the sunshine and rain of many years.

She raised a high standard for right living, few of us could meet its requirements. She taught us to meet life, its conquests and failures with a firm steadfast faith in all that was pure and good. Her gentle leadership, purity of thought and love of truth, reaching out in so many ways will be missed in many places.

A great loss has come into our lives since she has gone. Surely "She has done what she could" to make the world better. Is it not good she lived? Best for us all to have known her, to have loved and lost her; best that the world should have a life as pure, as beautiful as the angels God sent to bear her soul on and up to him.

God was merciful to her and eased the long years of pain and bade her come home, "In the Palace of the King."

Note: Hattie Self Reagin is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery next to her husband Everette E. Reagin. She was born January 3, 1868 and died July 22, 1911, and was the daughter of Harbin Harrison "Hob" & Hannah Ann Self.
