D.S. Carver, better known as "Uncle Dan," passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.W. Lindsey yesterday morning (November 4, 1909) at 6 o'clock. Mr. Carver was born in Missouri 78 years ago last June (June 15, 1830). He went to California in 1840 and came from there to Texas three years later, settling in this community where he continued to reside up to the time of his death. He is survived by one son and four daughters as follows: L.J. Carver and Mesdames A.W. Lindsey, Henley Humphreys, Ripley Humphreys, and A.F. Gross. Interment will take place at Long Creek at 12 o'clock today (Friday), and funeral services will be conducted at the grave by Rev. C.G. Wright.
"Uncle Dan" was a man of many sterling qualities and had many warm friends who sympathize deeply with the sorrowing ones. -- The Mesquiter
