After preaching by pastor, Bro. J.S. ELLIOTT the church met in conference.
1. Minutes of last conference read and corrected by the insersion [sic] of two points
as follows: (a) Brethren P.C. SCOTT and J.Y. FINCHER were elected in Oct. as
messengers to the B.M.A. to meet in Dallas the 11th of Nov. 1908. (b) Bro. ELLIOTT
accepted the call of this church in Dec. 1908.
2. On motion and sec. it was voted to appoint a committee to revise the church roll.
3. Sister Elberta KEMP, Bro. O.L. WILEY, and J.T. MILLER were appointed on
this committee.
4. On motion and sec. letters of dismission from this church were granted Bro. P.C.
SCOTT and wife.
5. On motion and sec. church conference adjourned.

ACTIONS OF CONFERENCE Feb 13, 1909
In absence of clerk, Bro. J.C. GARNER was called to act.
1. Minutes of last conference read and approved.
2. Committee on revising church roll not having made tabulated report was continued
to next conference to do so.
3. Church withdrew fellowship from Bro. John D. ADAMS on the charge of deserting
his wife and child.
4. Church assumed the debt to Bro. ELLIOTT for amount paid him on putting up gutters
on parsonage. Also to hardware bill for locks for doors for house. Locks bought at
Farmer's Hardware and Saddlery Co.. $2.70, cost of gutters $4.90, Total $7.60.
5. By motion conference adjourned.

The church met in called conference March 28, 1909, for the purpose of electing
messengers to the Educational Rally at Oak Cliff Apr. 6, 1909.
1. On motion and sec., Bro. J.C. GARNER and Bro. Albert SPILLMAN were elected
as messengers.

April 10, 1909
After preaching by pastor, the church met in conference.
1. Minutes of last conference read and approved.
2. The committee to revise the church roll made report. The report was received and
the committee discharged.
3. On motion and sec., the church voted to invite Bro. A.D. BROOKS of Hillsboro
to come and preach for us.
4. On motion and sec. it was voted to give the boys the privilege of enlarging the small
rooms by the baptistery for the purpose of Sunday School Class work.
5. On motion and sec. it was voted to appoint a committee to act with the Aid Society in
making som repairs on church. E.M. DOZIER and G.B. WESLEY were appointed on
that committee.
6. On motion and sec. it was voted to have 5th Sunday meeting to convene with us in
May. Brethren J.S. ELLIOTT, Albert SPILLMAN, and J.T. MILLER were appointed
a committee to prepare a programme for that meeting. Misses Gertrude LEE, Blanche
ELY, and Cora PINSON were appointed the committee on hospitality.
7. On motion and sec. the church granted Sister T.H. ARNOLD a letter of dismission
from the church.
8. On motion and sec. the church withdrew fellowship from Bro. J.L. WILMARTH on
the charge of heresy.
9. No other business being on hand the conference adjourned.

1. Minutes of last conference read and approved.
2. Bro. G.B. WESLEY reported that he and Bro. E.M. DOZIER met with the aid
society and some plans were devised for repairing the church.
3. On motion and sec. Brethren R.P. PINSON, J.C. GARNER, O.L. WILEY,
J.F. YATES and N.C. WHITTEMORE were appointed to solicit finances for repairing
church.
4. On motion and sec. church conference adjourned.

June 12, 1909
After preaching by pastor the church was called in conference.
1. Minutes of last conference read and approved.
2. Committee on repairs reported that they had left the matter of repairs to the carpenter.
3. By request of the church Albert SPILLMAN reported the roof repaired by putting in
new valley and ridge role. Bill of $8.95 presented and allowed.
4. Committee on finance reported nothing collected. Committee continued.
5. Moved and sec. that letter of dismission be granted Sister Florence McCOOL. Carried.
6. Moved and sec. that letter of dismission be granted Sister Will McNUTT, Carried.
7. Moved and sec. that church invite Albert SPILLMAN to assist in the singing during
protracted meeting. Carried.
8. Moved and sec. that the church hold meeting with the pastor. Carried.
9. Moved and sec. to adjourn. Carried

After reading and prayer by Bro. Albert SPILLMAN the church met in conference.
1. Minutes of last conference read and approved.
2. Bro. J.C. GARNER was appointed to get someone to clean out side rooms.
3. On motion and second, it was voted for the ladies to dispose of the old carpet of the
church.
4. On motion and second the church granted Sister Johnie DUNCAN a letter of dismission.
5. On motion and second the conference was adjourned.

On motion and second voted for the treasurer to turn over funds collected for
improvement to the secretary of aid society to be used for recarpeting the church.

August 4, 1909
The church met in called conference, August 4th, 1909
1. On motion and second Bro. J.Y. FINCHER was elected Moderator.
2. Bro. J.S. ELLIOTT, Albert SPILLMAN, and J.T. MILLER were elected messengers
to the Association. Bro. J.E. YATES, A.A. DARDEN and E.M. DOZIER were elected
Alternates.
3. On motion and sec., it was voted to send $3.00 for minutes.
4. On motion and sec., it was voted for the church to pledge $2.00 to be apportioned to
the causes of Home, State and Foreign Missions, Old Ministers' Relief Fund, Education
and Orphanage.
5. On motion and sec. Misses Gertrude LEE, Blanch ELY, and Bro. E.M. DOZIER were
elected the committee on hospitality.
6. On motion and sec. the church voted a resolution of thanks to Mr. A.F. DUKE for the
use of his tent for the meeting. Also to Mr. T.W. ADAMSON for lumber to make seats
under the tent.

Our protracted meeting began July 24 and closed August 4, 1909. Bro. J.S. ELLIOTT
preached the gospel in simplicity and power with much good to the church. We had seven
additions to the church, 5 by letter, 3 by baptism. At the close of the meeting the church
expressed her thanks to Bro. ELLIOTT for his faithfulness in the meeting.

Sept. 11, 1909
After preaching by pastor, the church met in conference.
1. Minutes of last conference read and approved.
2. The church passed an order, asking the treasurer to report once each quarter.
3. On motion and second letters of dismission were granted Sister Ethel MOONEY, also
Sister John B. ROBERTS.
4. The church passed an order calling for the ordination of Bro. Albert SPILLMAN to the
full work of the ministry. Brethren J.S. ELLIOTT and Albert SPILLMAN were empowered
to appoint the time and select a presbytery for the ordination service.
5. On motion the conference Adjourned.

Sept. 12 - Called Conference
The church met in called conference, Sept. 12, and granted letters of dismission to Bro.
J.T. RUNNELS and his wife, Sister Edna RUNNELS, and Mrs.
R.W. GRAY lettered

Bro. Albert SPILLMAN was ordained to the full work of the ministry at the night service,
Sept. 26, 1909. Dr. S.A. HEYDEN preached the ordination sermon from I Tim. 3rd Chapter.
After the sermon, Dr. S.A. HEYDEN was elected chairman, and Bro. L.S. DARLING,
secretary. With Brethren S.A. HEYDEN, J.S. ELLIOTT, S.H. SLAUGHTER and L.S.
DARLING as presbytery, the church proceeded with the ordination. Bro. SPILLMAN
was examined in the Baptist Doctrine, and showed himself sound in the faith, then the
church approved the ordination. Dr. HEYDEN led in prayer, at the conclusion of which,
the presbytery imposed hands upon Bro. SPELLMAN's head.
Oct. 9, 1909
After preaching by the pastor, the church met in conference.
1. Minutes of last conference read and approved.
2. On motion and sec. Brethren J.S. ELLIOTT and R.P. PINSON were elected
messengers to the Baptist Missionary Association to convene at Dallas Nov. 10, 1909.
Brethren J.C. GARNER and G.B. WESLEY were elected Alternates.
3. On motion and sec. the church voted to call a pastor and elect a clerk on the fourth
Sunday of Oct. 1909.
4. On motion and sec., it was voted to collect at Sunday's service Oct. 10, means to pay
for locks, etc. Bro. J.C. GARNER reported that he had collected for Buckner's Orphans
Home the sum of $40.50.
5. On motion and sec. the church conference adjourned.

Oct. 24, 1909
Before the 11 oclock service the church met in conference to call a pastor and elect a
clerk for the ensuing year.
1. On motion and sec. it was voted to suspend regular order and call by acclamation
Bro. J.S. ELLIOTT as pastor. The call was unanimous.
2. On motion and sec. Bro. J.C. GARNER was elected clerk.
3. On motion and sec. it was voted for the incidentals and all collections to be turned
over to the treasurer of the church.
4. On motion and sec. the conference adjourned.

2. Call for report of committee on incidentals subscription - no one present to report committee.
3. A motion and sec. to elect Bro. A.A. DARDEN a committeeman to see the Bretheren of this
committee learn what had been done and see the Brethren of this committee learn what had
been done and report on tomorrow to church - carried.
4. Call for report of committee on janitor service. Bro T.J. MILLER made partial report. Twas
agreed by action of church to pay janitor five dollars for month for service.
5. Motion and sec. that church elect Bro. T.J. MILLER Supervisor of Janitor work and
purchasing agent for the church - carried.
6. Call for report of committee on incidentals subscriptions. The Brethren asked more time
having not finished their work. Motion and sec. to grant two weeks time in which to complete
their work - carried.
After the sermon, Sisters Lola SPILMAN, Dora and Pearl SUMMONDS was received to
our membership by letters.

June Meeting
First Baptist Church of Forney
Action 1. Reading and approval of minutes of last conference meeting.
2. Motion and Sec. that pastor appoint a committee of three Brethren to investigate the
probable cost of wiring in church and cost of current to light, then see the brethren as to the
matter then have the work done - carried.
Pastor appointed Brethren J.F. YATES, James E. YATES and J.C. GARNER for a
committee and ask that they report at next conference meeting.
On Sunday morning pastor took collection to pay off debt for piping in water to church and
parsonage and balance due to janitor for service.
After preaching by Bro. Thom PINSON, Bro. John and Sister Elizabeth CRISP were
received to our fellowship by letter. By motion and sec, conference adjourned.

August Meeting 1910
1. Reading and approval of minutes of last conference meeting.
2. Call for report of committee: Electric Light wire and fixtures for church. Committee
reports that by act of pastor J.S. ELLIOTT house is wired. Cost of some $24.00. The
committee borrowed the money paid same.
3. Move and second to continue the committee and add three more names as follows:
Albert SPILLMAN, J.C. BOLES, and N.C. WHITTEMORE with instruction to
committee to collect sufficient cash, select and buy fixtures for lighting house - carried.
4. Motion and sec. That Brethren J.S. ELLIOTT, Albert SPILLMAN & J.C. GARNER
be elected messengers to attend and represent church in East Fork Association to meet
with Crandall Aug. 25, 1910. Alternates: G.B. WESLEY, N.C. WHITTEMORE,
J.C. BOLES - carried.
5. Motion and sec. instructing messengers to pledge church not to exceed $200.00 and
prorate same as they think best - carried.
6. Motion and sec. to assume the debt of $25.00 pledged last year to ministerial
education and pay equally to Jacksonville College and Texas Baptist University - carried.

cast.
3. Motion and sec. to make vote unanimous - carried.
4. Motion and sec. to appoint Brethren N.C. WHITTEMORE, Jason SOWELL
and J.T. MILLER committee to raise pastor's salary - carried.
