Wind and Water Damage
Dallas Morning News
January 2, 1892

Forney, Tex., Jan 1 - Last night a pretty heavy wind and rainstorm struck this place, and while several houses were blown down the chief damage was done to the Daily & McKellar two-story brick, the lower portion of which is occupied by the Forney hardware company and J.W. Gause's dry goods store. Half of the upper story is used as a hall for various orders and the other half for law offices, justice court, etc.

The building, covered with tin or sheet iron, was completely unroofed and the heavy rain poured in on the exposed goods. Everything in the building is damaged more or less. The building is damaged about $500. The reporter could not learn how much the various occupants are damaged. The telegraph lines were down on both sides of Forney this morning.
