Minutes of the Forney First Baptist Church, beginning on Jan 5, 1913.

SATURDAY BEFORE 2nd SUNDAY OF JANUARY 1921
After preaching by pastor church announced in conference the committee on note of parsonage was continued: By a motion and 2nd it was agreed to use part of the Sunday School funds to help pay the int. on note. Motion to adjourn.

SATURDAY MAY 7, 1921
After preaching by pastor church met in regular conference. Bro. W.E. HALEY
having moved away, J.H. CRITTENDEN was elected clerk to serve in his place. Bro. and Sister G.W. WAGNON were granted letters of dismission. Motion made and seconded that the church withdraw membership from Sister O.W. LANGSTON for unchristian conduct. Motion carried. No other business appearing, conference adjourned.

Saturday, June 11, 1921
After preaching by pastor, church met in regular conference. The letters of Bro. PARMER and wife were received. Bro. JENKINS was given leave of absence to attend the assembly at Jacksonville, Tx. The church in conference on July 31, 1921 granted letters of dismission to W.E. HALEY and family. After which conference adjourned.

SAT. AUG. 13, 1921
After preaching by pastor the church met in regular conference. Bro. STARNES, Bro. ANTHONY and Bro. JENKINS were elected as delegates to attend the East Fork Association at Elmo. N.C. WHITTEMORE, E.M. DOZIER, J.H. CRITTENDEN, and Mrs. FITZHUGH were elected as alternates.


SUNDAY AUG. 14, 1921
The church in conference invited the association to meet here next year. Motion and second that this church pay $5.00 on having minutes printed. There being no further business to come before the church, conference adjourned.

SUNDAY, SEPT.4
T.W. WILMON and wife granted letters of dismission.


SATURDAY, SEPT. 10, 1921
Being regular conference day, after preaching by pastor, church was announced in conference. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. There being no business to come before the church, conference adjourned.

SATURDAY, OCT.8, 1921
After preaching by the pastor the church met in regular conference. Motion and second that they stop the water from running on the REAGIN property. Motion carried. The chair appointed Bro. SOWELL and N.C. WHITTEMORE as the committee. Committee on water proffing leaks, Bro's R.L. ANTHONY, D.D. KEMP and E.M. DOZIER.

Motion and second that church adopt a place of writing letters to absent members in regard to helping carry on the work of the church. Motion carried.

Motion and second that the church grant Mrs. Hines KINNON a letter of dismission. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the church. Conference adjourned.

SATURDAY, NOV.12, 1921
Being regular conference day, after preaching by pastor the church was announced in conference. Bro's STARNES, L.B. JENKINS were elected as messengers to the State Association and Bro's Jason SOWELL, A.A. DARDEN and N.C. WHITTEMORE were elected alternates.

Mrs. Ida Mae HARRIS asked the church to forgive her for dancing. Her acknowledgement was accepted unanimously. Ruby BALL, Myra MILLS, Homer ADAMS and Will PINSON also asked the church to forgive them on the same charge. The church withdrew fellowship from Mrs. Laura USSELTON, she being charged with Heresy. A motion was made and had a second that Marion BALL, Effie McVAY and Lela BOLES be granted more time in which to make a statement to the church in regard to their dancing. Bro's JENKINS and STARNES were appointed on a committee to talk to Curtis HAIRE also Bro's HEAD and ANTHONY were asked to talk to Marion BALL. Mrs. FITZHUGH was asked to talk to Lela BOLES. There being no further business conference adjourned.

SATURDAY, DEC. 10, 1921
After preaching by the pastor the church met in regular conference. A statement written by Effie McVAY about dancing was sent to the church. Motion and second that church accept the statement. Motion carried. Lela BOLES made a statement in person. The church accepted.

The committee to talk with Curtis HAIRE did not report, but had a report from his Mother also from Bro. ANTHONY he told them that he did not think he could live a Christian life. Motion and second that church withdraw fellowship from Curtis HAIRE, the motion carried.

Bro's HEAD and ANTHONY talked to Marion BALL who said that he was ashamed to come to the church and make a statement in regard to the way he had been living. He also said that he was going to live a better life. A motion and second that church continue the committee for another month to talk to Marion BALL. Motion carried.

$15.00 for Insurance on the parsonage by Fred LEWIS was presented. Bro's ANTHONY, Dell HARVEY and Tom SPELLMAN were appointed on committee to solicit funds to pay this bill.

$1.160.00 on parsonage due Jan. 1, 1922. Motion and second that a committee be appointed to raise the money to pay off the note on the parsonage.

Pastor's salary $1548.00. Motion and second that plans for salary be taken up tomorrow Sunday Dec. 11, 1912. Adjourned.

SUNDAY, DEC. 11, 1921
After preaching, church was announced in conference to make plans for pastor's salary. The following committee was appointed on the pastor's home note. Bro. N.C. WHITTEMORE, Bro. Jason SOWELL, Bro. E.M. DOZIER, Bro. C.W. BOONE, Bro. J.H. CRITTENDEN and Bro. M.L. HEAD. Motion and second that church pay pastor $18.00 for full time, motion carried.

Motion and second that a committee of six be appointed to canvas the membership to raise the salary in pledges. Motion carried. Bro. Grover HUGHES, J.H. CRITTENDEN, and C.W. BOONE committee. Conference adjourned.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 7, 1922
Being our regular conference day after preaching by the pastor, the church was announced in conference. The minutes were read, corrected, and approved. The committee appointed to solicit funds to pay the insurance bill of $15.00 reported that the money was raised and the bill paid.

Bro. Marion BALL made a statement in regard to the way he had been living, asking the church to forgive him. The church voted to accept his statement.

The committee on pastor's salary did not report. The committee agreed to meet Jan 14, 1922 at the City Natl. Bank. Motion and second that conference adjourned. Motion carried.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 22, 1922
Church in conference decided to start the protracted meeting the 3rd Sunday in April. Motion and second that the church asked Bro. WOMACK to lead the singing.

A motion and second that the Boy Scouts be allowed to meet in the basement of the church, the motion carried. A motion and second that the pastor be given leave of absence on the 5th Sun. in Jan. to attend an enlistment campaign meeting at Hiram. The motion carried. A motion and second that the church ratify the meeting to be held here Feb. 20-21, 1922. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the church, conference adjourned.

APRIL 8, 1922
After preaching by the pastor, the church was announced in conference. Com. on insurance did not report. Motion and sec. that the church allow bills for making tables for the little folks also repairs on the cistern at the parsonage. Motion carried. Motion and sec. to adjourn. Carried.

MAY 13, 1922
Com. on insurance reported and com. discharged. Pastor was granted leave of absence on sec. Sun. in June.


AUG. 12, 1922
After preaching by pastor church was announced in conference. The church transacted the following business.

1. R.L. ANTHONY was elected church clerk. Motion and sec. that a committee be appointed to take measurement for needed window lights of church. Motion carried. Com. R.L. ANTHONY, D.D. KEMP. The following com. was appointed to secure homes for messengers and visitors to the East Fork Association to be held with Forney Church Aug. 24 and 25. Sisters Pattie KINCAID and Mrs. W.H. COOLEY to solicit on North Side R.R. and Sister's Mrs. C.J. STARNES and Eva M. DOZIER to solicit on South Side R.R. Following Brethren was appointed reception com. Elden BOONE, Eugene DOZIER, and N.C. WHITTEMORE. Com. on arrangements: G.C. HUGHES, Ewell SMITH and Jason SOWELL. The following Brethren was elected as messengers to the
association: L.B. JENKINS, Jason SOWELL, and Will ADAMS. Alternates: M.L. HEAD, C.J. STARNES, R.L. ANTHONY. Motion and sec. to adjourn. Carried.


SUNDAY, AUG. 13
Motion and sec. that $5.00 be sent for associational minutes. Motion carried. Motion and sec. to grant letter of dismission to Sister Dot (MILLER) PARKER. Motion carried.

SEPT. 9, 1922
Church in conference. Granted letters of dismission to Brethren G.W. RITCHIE and Tom IVEY. The following com. was appointed to see after some work on church. L.B. JENKINS, N.C. WHITTEMORE, and R.L. ANTHONY.


SUN. NIGHT, SEPT. 17, 1922
Miss Irene ALLMAN was received by letter.


NO SERVICE SAT. BEFORE SECOND SUNDAY IN OCT.


SUNDAY, NOV. 5, 1922
The following com. was elected to canvass the membership to raise salary for pastor for 1923. Bro's E.M. DOZIER, Jason SOWELL, C.W. BOONE, L.R. FUTRELL and J.A. McKELLAR. The following applicants was received as candidate for Baptism: J.M. LEWIS, Mrs. Dallie LEWIS (on promise of letter), Eula B. LEWIS and Miss Pearl LEWIS.


NOV. 12, 1922
Above minutes was read. Following Brethren L.B. JENKINS and E.M. DOZIER was elected messengers to the B.M.A. Brethren L.R. FUTRELL and C.J. STARNES for alternates. When convened with First Baptist Church Oak Cliff on Nov. 15. Con. adjourned.
