FORNEY, Texas, April 30 – Due to be finished by July 1 is the pride of Forney, its new high school now being built, shown in the upper picture. The old grammar school was wrecked and its material put into the new high school. The old building will house the grammar school and will have the equivalent of twelve classrooms, including a library, science laboratories and home economics department. On the northwest end will be a combined gymnasium-auditorium. The city’s frame school for Negroes has been wrecked and a new one, with five rooms and an auditorium, is being built.
The new, completely modern gymnasium and auditorium being built on the northwest end of the new high school is shown in the lower picture. WPA aid is being used on the project. The old building will be remodeled soon.
