FORNEY, Texas — “I’m just a nobody, who tries to tell everybody, about somebody who can save anybody,” Tony Jackson, a long-time Forney Independent School District teacher, mentor, and reverend can be remembered saying.
Jackson, a teacher/mentor at Forney ISD for 21 years, a 1974 Forney High School graduate, and a pastor, passed away overnight of natural causes.
Most recently, Jackson was a teacher and mentor at Brown Middle School, according to the district’s website. He is also a reverend at Lone Star Baptist Church in Kaufman County.
“Mr. Jackson and his family have been a very important part of our community here in Forney ISD for many years,” Superintendent Suzie McWilliams said in an email to staff on Tuesday morning. “Throughout his career he had a tremendous influence on many students and staff members.”
“To know Mr. Jackson, was to know that he loved his God, his family, his work, and his students with all his heart,” stated McWilliams.
Jackson began teaching at Forney ISD on August 11, 1994 — just over 21 years and, in those 21 years, impacted the lives of countless of students.
Additional counselors were made available at Brown Middle School for students and staff.
