Ex-Big League Catcher Dies in Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) – Rose E. (Tex) Erwin, formerly a catcher with two Major League baseball clubs, died yesterday after a short illness. He was 68.

Erwin played with the Detroit Tigers and the Chicago Cubs between 1904 and 1913. More recently, he was a Republican councilman here for 12 years.

He is buried at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, New York.
