Rev. Haney Dies; Associated with Baptist Church

The Rev. Walter W. Haney, Jr., 63, of 710 First Avenue, died Monday at his home after a long illness.

The Rev. Mr. Haney was born in Newnan, Ga., and moved to Texas in 1902. He was a World War I veteran and for many years was a ginner, construction worker and builder.

He was an active worker in the Owenwood Baptist Church, and was a guest speaker at many of the smaller churches in the area.

Survivors are his wife; three sons, Hary Haney with the U.S. Navy, the Rev. William Haney of Lewisville and Clarence Haney of McKinney; two daughters, Mrs. Claudia Louise Parnell of Oceanside, Calif., and Mrs. Georgia Allison of Clearfield Pa.; father, Walter W. Haney of Dallas; brother, Richard D. Haney of Dallas; four sisters, Mrs. Eureka Brooks of Fort Worth and Miss Eula Dee Haney, Mrs. Hattie Floyd and Mrs. Dora Lee Jenkins of Dallas, and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Owenwood Baptist Church, Urban and Forney Road, with the Rev. W.W. Dimsdale, the Rev. Ike Barber, the Rev. J.B. McCloskey and the Rev. J.W. Richie officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney.

Pallbearers will be J.E.L. Jenkins, Preston Floyd, M.H. Barbee, Eddie Janes, Elton Yarborough and E.G. Clevinger.

 

Note: Rev. Walter W. Haney is buried with his family in Hillcrest Cemetery.
