Saturday Rites Held for Paul Clarkson

Paul Clarkson, prominent Forney businessman passed away at a Dallas hospital early Friday morning following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held from the First Christian church at 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Jerry Annand officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest cemetery.
Mr. Clarkson was born at Fate in Rockwall county on January 23, 1898. He came to Forney as a boy of thirteen and had been a resident here since that time. He entered the grocery business with the late John Pippins in 1926. He later operated a hardware and variety store until ill health forced his retirement several months ago. He was very active in all phases of civic life and had served as a city councilman for a number of years.
Mr. Clarkson was a faithful and active member of the Christian church, where he served 20 years as superintendent of the Sunday School. He was a member of the Brooklyn Masonic Lodge and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Clarkson was a Volunteer Fireman and at one time served as Justice of the Peace.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ringtom Bowles Clarkson of Forney; three brothers, Chester and Phillip Clarkson of Dallas and Johnnie Clarkson of New Boston, three sisters, Mrs. Jess Brown of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. John Pippins of Forney and Mrs. C.M. Adams of Dallas.
