Newton Van, passed away late Thursday. Survived by wife, Mrs. Elgie Carpenter, Forney; sons, A.V. Carpenter, Houston; Don Carpenter, Edgewood; Ned Carpenter, Mesquite; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sisters, Mrs. Pearl Watkins, Cave City, AR; Mrs. Lula Qualls, Evening Shade, AR; and Mrs. Flora Vance, Garland; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Services 2 p.m., Saturday, First Baptist Church of Forney, Rev. Jerry Griffin, officiating. Interment Hillcrest Cemetery, Forney.
