Believed to Have Been Murdered Near Forney Friday Night

Forney, Tex., Oct. 5 – Charlie Witherspoon, a negro, was found dead in the road near town this morning. A large charge of buckshot had taken effect in his abdomen. He ran about one hundred yards from where the shooting occurred. It is supposed that he was murdered about 10 o’clock last night, as persons living near where it occurred heard the shot and the victim’s screams. An inquest was held today. Officers are at work on the case.
