Mildred (Millie) Townsend Eudy, of Forney, passed away May 23, 2013. Millie was born Dec. 11, 1919 in Forney to James and Ettie Mae (Nash) Townsend.
She was a lifelong resident of Forney and, during her lifetime, witnessed the many changes and the growth othe town she loved so much.
She worked at the Forney Post Office for over 20 years until her retirement which allowed her more time to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also a longtime and active member of the First Baptist Church of Forney having taught Sunday School as well as playing an energetic part in providing food for hospitality gatherings at the church.
Millie was known for keeping her home open to any of her family and friends, and her large Thanksgiving celebrations will be a cherished memory to everyone. A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, her legacy of love and serving wil continue on through those whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Eudy and siblings: Leona Shipley, Inez Shipley, Nell McGee, James Townsend and Clifford Townsend.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Thomas Eudy and wife, Marilois, of Kaufman; grandchildren: Brad Eudy and wife, Christina, of Terrell, Sara Brian and husband, Derek, of Mountain Home, Ark.; great grandchildren: Conor Brian and Lanham Eudy; sister Louise Branson; brothers Jack and David Townsend and the ‘daughtre she didn’t have,’ Gwen Tucker as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Forney with interment following at Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home.
