Pioneer County Resident Dies

Mike F. Talty, pioneer resident of the Irish Ridge section, died at his home there Monday afternoon. The body will be returned to the residence this afternoon, with the recitation of the Rosary there at 8:00 p.m. tonight. Requiem mass will be held at St. Martin’s church at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday with Father Pechal as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Hill cemetery in Dallas. Pallbearers will be Pat M. Maloney, David Dennehy, Mike Dennehy, Mike Collins, Dennis Collins, and Joe Adams Jr.
Michael Francis Talty was born in County Claire, Ireland May 5, 1869. He came to this country, to Texas and to the Talty community in 1895 and had operated a general merchandise store there since that time. When his health became such that he could no longer tend to the store, his daughter took over the management and has continued to operate it.
He was a life long member of the Catholic Church.
He was married to Miss Kate Higgins in 1906 and to this union three children were born. His wife preceded him in death by several years and he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Winifred Gulden of Denton, Mrs. Kathleen Mosmin of Collingswood, New Jersey, Mrs. Isabel Morris of Talty; 10 grandchildren, three brothers, Hugh Talty of County Claire, Ireland; Jim Talty of Dublin Ireland; Jack Talty of County Wicklow, Ireland; and one sister, Miss Kathleen Talty of County Wicklow, Ireland.
