Imposing Ceremonies at the Funeral of J.S. Wood of Forney
San Antonio Express
2 December 1893
Forney, Tex., Dec. 1 – (Special) One of the largest funeral processions seen here for a long time was seen today at the burial of J.S. Woods [sic] notwithstanding the coldness of the weather. The Odd Fellows from Kaufman, Terrell and Wills Point were in attendance. The procession was conducted by Vic Rhinehart (?) and Rev. Mr. Fleming of Terrell. The ceremonies were impressively observed. The entire concourse of people seemed to breathe the sentiment of grief and sympathy.
After the burial the Odd Fellows repaired to their lodge, and after an exchange of sentiment, in which eulogy and the warmest friendship were expressed for the deceased, they passed resolutions of respect and elected a successor in the person of Dr. B.H. Hubbard of Kaufman.
Note: Mayor Isaac S. Wood, not J.S. Woods.
