Funeral Services Held for Mrs. Farmer

Mrs. Emma Lou (Starnes) Farmer, resident of Forney since 1885, passed away at her home here on Wednesday night. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10 o’clock at the First Baptist church with the Rev. Jas. H. Stanley, the Rev. L.B. Jenkins and the Rev. L.M. Joines officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest cemetery.
Emma Lou Starnes Farmer was born in Hillsboro, Tennessee on September 8, 1877. The family came to Forney when she was a child. Following the death of her parents, she made her home with her uncle, the late J.C. Starnes, until her marriage to A.J. Farmer on September 8, 1896. Four children were born to this union, two of whom preceded her in death. Her husband died in November, 1950.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Cleo Hinton of Forney and Mrs. Mayme Lou Woolsey of Dallas.
She was a devoted member of the Baptist church since early childhood.
Note: Emma Lou Starnes Farmer is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery next to her husband Andrew Jackson Farmer, Sr.
