Forney Bookkeeper is Found Shot to Death

Terrell, Texas, Aug. 11 – A.P. Cole, bookkeeper for a hardware company at Forney, Texas, near here, was found dead in his garage there today. Part of Cole’s head was shot away and a shotgun lay nearby. An inquest had not been held early today and persons who saw the body said death might have been caused by accident.

Cole, who was 25 years old, leaves a wife. His father, a citizen of Morgan, Bosque county, was notified.

An inquest had not been held early today and persons who saw the body said death might have been caused by accident or suicide. Cole was twenty-five years old and married.

Forney, Tex., Aug. 11 – The body of A.P. Cole, bookkeeper for the Farmers’ Hardware Company, was found in his garage this morning about 6 o’clock with the top of is head blown off. A shotgun was found near by. He arose as usual, passing the morning greetings with his wife. A few minutes later a shot was heard and Mrs. Cole, who was still in bed, called to her husband, and failing to get a response, she called to a little negro girl in the house to go out and see about him. She reported that he was dead. He had lived there for two or three years. His body will be sent to Morgan for interment, his parents residing at that place.

A.P. Cole, aged about thirty years, was found dead in a garage at Forney at an early hour Tuesday morning. His head was partly shot away and a shotgun was found at his side.

The dead man went to Forney about three years ago from Morgan and had been employed as bookkeeper by the Farmers Hardware Co.

 

Note: Abner Prewitt Cole is buried at Morgan Cemetery, in Morgan, Bosque County, Texas.
