Brooksy Roland, 74, of Forney, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Brooksy was born on Oct. 18, 1934 in Rockwall, the son of Lish and Waleska Brooks Roland. He married Betty Nichols on June 15, 1953 in Forney and she preceded him in death in 1998.
Brooksy was a Highland Park policeman, an insurance investigator, and a banker with Bank of America before his retiring. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church of Forney.
Survivors include his three sons, Richard B. Roland and wife Kathy, Russell S. Roland and wife Karen, and Robert L. Roland all of Forney; one daughter, Risa M. Adam and husband Michael of Forney; one sister, Ruby Lewis of Forney; a special friend, Barbara Read of Forney; six grandchildren, Mandi Roland, Brooke Adam, Russell Roland, Marissa Roland, Rodney Roland, and Michael Adam; two great-grandchildren, Raegan Roland and Rani Roland; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mr. Roland is also preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
His pallbearers are Russell Roland, Rodney Roland, Michael Adam, Bradley Lewis, Pat Bannister, and Lincoln Johnson.
His service, under the direction of Goggans Funeral Home, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 18 at First Baptist Church Forney with Dr. Jerry Griffin officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 17 at First Baptist.
