Retirement of C.P. Shands
Dallas Morning News
14 December 1885
FORNEY, Dec. 14 – C.P. Shands, the postmaster who has held the position ever since the office has been established, has concluded to tender his resignation, to take effect Jan. 1, 1886. A more efficient and popular postmaster cannot be found in Texas. A petition is now being circulated in behalf of D. Reagan to succeed Mr. Shands. What the result will be no one knows, as other petitions have long since been forwarded to the department on behalf of other parties.
