Forney as a Hay Town

Forney Tribune
Tuesday Morning, 9 July 1889, Page 2

As a hay town we venture to say that Forney has no equal anywhere in the state. Last year there was in operation in this section forty seven hay presses and most of the hay was stored in town and shipped from here, there was 962 cars shipped from here. There are this year inside of the corporate limits, twenty two hay barns ranging in size from 50×100 to 75×150 feet. The Forney hay has gained a reputation all over the state and has turned down all other classes of forage that it has been placed in competition with, and men who began dealing in Forney hay who were then comparatively poor, are now our most prosperous and wealthy citizens. The prospects for the hay crop this year are very good, but there will not be as large a crop as there was last year.
