Dallas Morning News
11 November 1951

Dr. Christine Zarafonetis, the small brunet who caused Forney to build a modern clinic to entice her away from Dallas, married there Sunday and will settle for good in her home town.

Dr. Zarafonetis and her husband, Owen Walker, a Forney farmer, are on a 2-week honeymoon.

Then they will return to Forney, he to his farming, she to the clinic.

A graduate of the University of Texas, the University of Wisconsin and Southwestern Medical School, Mrs. Walker was a resident surgeon at Parkland Hospital when the committee of Forney citizens asked her to return.

She is the only physician in Forney.

The Rev. L.B. Jenkins, pastor emeritus of the First Baptist Church in Forney, married the couple in the First Christian Church, Forney.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Pat Zarafonetis and Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Walker, all of Forney. Mrs. W.H. Crawford of Forney was vocalist for the ceremony.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a blue suit with black accessories. Honor attendants were Mrs. H.P. Alleman, sister of the bride, and W.R. Walker of Arlington, the bridegroom’s brother.

Mr. Alleman, J.W. Ford of Weatherford, Billy Joe Walker and Bobby Dale Walker, Arlington, ushered.

Candles were lighted by Miss Druscilla Pinson and Miss Patricia Alleman. A small reception in the church parlor followed the ceremony.
