Miss Margaret Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Davis of Forney, became the bride of Carl M. McWherter, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl M. McWherter of Paris, Texas, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church in Forney.

The Rev. Paul C. Stephenson performed the wedding ceremony before the later banked with palms, white gladioli and asters. White tapers burned in candelabra. Miss Lois Pinson of Forney and Miss Charlotte Ware of Dallas gave the wedding music.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in a white slipper satin dress fashioned with a sweetheart neckline trimmed with a real lace collar, fitted sleeves and a full skirt extending into a long train. Her veil of bridal illusion was attached to a cornet of ostrich tips. She carried a white prayer book showered with lilies of the valley.

Miss Carolyn Senter of Forney attended the bride as maid of honor. She wore a tapestry blue frock designed with a sweetheart neckline edged with ruching, a fitted bodice, puffed sleeves and a full skirt with a slight train. She wore a wine and blue headdress of ostrich tips and her flowers were wine-colored carnations.

Miss Elaine McDonald of Fort Worth and Miss Evelyn Howard of Raymandville, Willacy County, were bridesmaids. Their dresses were of French blue brocade of the same design as Miss Senter’s gown. They wore a cluster of ostrich tips arranged in their coiffures and their flowers were wine-colored carnations.

Homer Thompson of Houston was best man and the ushers were Dick McWherter of Paris, a brother of the bridegroom, Edwin Cole, Cecil Gaulding of Dallas and Alfred Dohoney of Austin.

After a wedding trip to the Ozarks, Mr. and Mrs. McWherter will make their home in Paris. Mrs. McWherter Jr. selected a black costume suit with silver fox fur trim and black accessories for her traveling costume. She wore a should bouquet of orchids.

Both the bride and bridegroom are graduates of SMU, where the bride was a member of Mortar Board, the Arden Club, Alpha Theta Phi and Delta Gamma, social sorority. Mr. McWherter, Jr. received his preparatory education at Paris Junior College. During his senior year at SMU he was president of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He also was a member of Punjuab.
