The marriage of Miss Sarah Kathleen Childress, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. W.C. Childress of Forney, formerly of Dallas, to Raymond Glen Flaherty, 3717 Hamilton, took place at 3 p.m. Thursday in the First Methodist Church, Forney.
The bride’s father officiated, assisted by the Rev. Robert M. Hickelman of Dallas. Mrs. J.A. Pinson of Forney presented the music.
Given in marriage by Dr. V.L. Smith, the bride wore a soft-green wool crepe gown, with a V-Neckline, and a deep-green velvet hat. White camellias topped her white Bible.
Mrs. Robert M. Hickelman of Dallas was her sister’s matron of honor and Edward M. Hargrave, also of Dallas, was best man. W.C. Childress Jr. and Harry P. Childress, both of Dallas, ushered.
Mrs. Claude Meyers and Mrs. Charles W. Waller were members of the house party at the reception in the home of the bride’s parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Flaherty will live in Dallas after their wedding trip to San Antonio. The bride traveled in a tailored brown wool suit and brown accessories, with a corsage of camellias.
The bridegroom is a student in the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. He is a graduate of SMU and a former student of the University of Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Flaherty served forty-four months in the army.
