Dallas, Tex., Nov. 1 – Ross E. (Mike) Erwin has returned from Brooklyn, where he spent the baseball season as catcher for the National League club of that city. Erwin was secured from Rochester last season, and worked regularly all the season with the Brooklyn club until he was hurt about a month before the season closed.
Erwin is regarded as the best native catcher Texas has turned out. He is a native of Forney, but for the last two or three years has made his home in Dallas. He started with the Fort Worth club and went from there to St. Paul then to Detroit, thence to Rochester and finally to Brooklyn.
He divided the work at Brooklyn the past season with Bergen, one of the best catchers in the league, and had just got in his stride when he was hurt at St. Louis. A finger on his throwing hand was split and he was unable to play in any more games.
