Mesquite Defeats Forney
The Texas Mesquiter

In about the “punkest” exhibition ever staged on the local lot in the name of the great American game of baseball, Mesquite defeated Forney here Tuesday afternoon.
Forney played a better game in the field than did Mesquite, but had nothing to brag on at that. Mesquite won because of the ability to hit the ball all over the lot. In fact, everybody hit “but father,” and he wasn’t in the game, or he would doubtless have hit, too.
The final score was – oh, well, Mesquite was three ahead. If you want to know the exact score, ask one of the players. We’re ashamed to put it in cold type.
Batteries: For Mesquite, Lemaster and Kimbrough and Kimbell. For Forney, Gillespie and Pinson and McMann.
