The seemingly unbeatable Forney Jackrabbits turned in another landslide last night at Lobo Stadium in Longview by overwhelming the Garrison high team 64 to 7. It made Forney a regional champion and placed the west county team on a football level never achieved heretofore by a Forney eleven.
Scoring the points for Forney was Brooksy Roland, Charles Osborne, Everett Aslin, Robert Griffin and Pat Murray. Forney Coach Weldon Strain said that any aerial offense of defense that Garrison may have planned was ruined by a wet and muddy field.
This year the Forney team has broken all state record for the number of points run up. In 12 football games they have made a whopping total of 601 points to their opponents 52. The yards gained rushing figure is over the 4,000 mark, while their opposition figure is well under 2,000.
Last night the jackrabbits made about 350 yards rushing. Up to the half Garrison had made no yards rushing, though they picked up about 125 in the latter two quarters of th game.
The Friday night tilt was the finale for Forney, regional playoffs being as far as Class B football goes. The only other Forney team that has even approached the Forney record was the 1945 eleven, which took the bi-district crown.
Statistics for last night’s game were not available this morning.
