Forney, Texas, Jan 15 – After a week of rain the attendance at all Sunday schools were small; only men were able to get out. Rev. P.M. Mitchell was at his post but being so muddy was unable to preach. Rev. L.M. Mackey was at Granger to preach for his people there. Miss Annie Mae Byard departed this life Jan. 6, 1920. She was born Dec. 18, 1901; she leaves a mother and father, one sister and two brothers and a host of friends to mourn their loss. She was young but a faithful Christian. She was a member of the Little Flock Church. Rev. Mitchell preached the funeral Thursday. Out of town relatives were Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Byard; also Miss Nellie Byard of Ennis, Texas attended the funeral.

Forney, Texas, Jan 15 – From the Little Flock Baptist Church, through the inclement weather Sunday school was very good, but the attendance was small. Collection $1.02. Rev. P.M. Forney, Texas, Mar. 11 – Sunday school was largely attended at all churches Sunday. Rev. T. Bledsoe of Tyler was very successful in his meeting. Rev. Herion was in town Sunday. Miss Charlotte Scott and Mr. Charlie Bates were united in holy wedlock Sunday night at the home of the bride. Rev. A. Lipscomb officiated. Mr. Charlie McAdams and Miss Mayetta Fearance were quietly married Sunday afternoon. Rev. H. S. Haynes officiated.

Forney, Texas, April 8 – Sunday school was largely attended at all churches. Rev. W.H. Vanior of Pilot Point, preached at Mt. Zion Sunday. Mrs. J.M. Amos of Dallas also was here and sang. The meeting at Little Flock, last week was very inspiring to all who attended. The Jarvis Christian Institute Choral club of Hawkins, Texas, sung at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Momouth visited a very ill father in Lawrence, Sunday. Mrs. Willis Gillis and son spent the week-end here visiting friends and relatives. Mrs. M. Booth and Mrs. V.G. Hyner spent Sunday and Monday in Dallas.
Mrs. E.M. Shaw spent Saturday and Sunday in Dallas. Mrs. Hellen Hurd spent the week-end in Dallas with husband, who is working in Dallas. Mr. and Mrs. E. Colbert have returned from Wichita Falls, where they have been for two months.

Forney, Texas, May 6 – S.S. was largely attended at all churches. Rev. W.H. Varner was at his post and preached two strong sermons. Rev. W.A. Lott of Dallas spent Sunday here and preached at Mt. Zion Sunday night. Prof. Love spent Saturday and Sunday in our city. Rev. Herion filled his pulpit and preached two strong sermons to his people at the M.E. church. Mrs. Whitfield of Washington, D.C., made her visit to our town and gave us a fine lecture on behalf of the school in Washington, D.C. Her subject was, “Start Life Right;” and before she had finished her talk most every person in the house was crying, simply because of the way some girls have gone to them and how they were struggling under hardships, and when an offering was called for Little Flock church, Forney, went down on record as giving $56.20. We hope to have more such women come to Forney. Mrs. Willie Gilles and son are here spending a few weeks with a sick sister. Mrs. L.B. Rowell and Mrs. E.M. Shaw visited the Jarvis Christian Institute at Hawkins, Texas last week and found that school to be next to one of the best in the state of Texas. They have a splendid corps of teachers and about 210 students on roll. Mrs. H.S. Haynes is on the sick list.

Forney. – All Sunday schools were attended Sunday. Rev. Pruitt held service all day Sunday, and was successful in his rally. Rev. W. H. Varner pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist church preached there able sermons and baptized 2. Rev. Varner is one of the greatest preachers in all Texas. T. B. and A.B. has moved back to town. T. B. and wife was at church Sunday night and took part in the Lords supper. Barrie Brewer was in town looking for his folks Monday.

Forney, Aug. 26 – Mr. G. Porter’s daughter died Saturday night and was buried Monday, of typhoid fever. Rev. Presley of Terrell officiated. Rev. W.H. Varner, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist church preached two able sermons Sunday. Rev. P.M. Mitchell, pastor of Second Baptist Church, was at his post. Rev. Hearren, pastor of the A.M.E. Church was also at his post. Nine delegates from Mt. Zion Baptist church left Monday for the convention at Denison, viz: Rev. W.H. Varner, pastor; C.W. Sanders, Prof. Wm. Lee, Sister E.M. Shaw, Miss Annie Mae Bates, Mrs. Sarah Patterson, C.A. Smith and Miss Beulah Patterson.

Forney, Sept. 2 – Sunday School was largely attended at all churches. The Messengers from Mt. Zion church have returned from a successful meeting in Denison. Mr. C.W. Sanders was awarded the ticket to the N.B. and M. Convention, raising $106.20. Rev. H.S. Hayes and Rev. H.W. Williams preached at the Little Flock church Sunday night. Mrs. H.S. Haynes and Mr. Ike Robinson attended the Grand Lodge in Dallas last week. Mrs. M. Fathering is able to be up. Mr. Harvard left Sunday for Fort Worth.

Forney, Oct. 21 – Sunday School was well attended at all of the churches Sunday. Mt. Zion has a big rally on to close Sunday, Oct. 24th. Rev. B.F. Felton preached two sermons for Rev. Herron Sunday at A.M.E. Church. The cotton pickers are going west to pick cotton in great numbers. See Mose Drain for the Express.

Forney, Nov. 25 – Services at Mt. Zion were good. Rev Varner preached. Rev. J.L. Herron was rallying for Dollar Money for annual conference. He appeals to the people to help him raise the claim. Mrs. Helen Hurd has returned from Corsicana, where she visited relatives. Mr. M. A. Richardson, Mr. Q. Vance and Mrs. l. Lipscomb were in Dallas Sunday.
