Dad was born April 7, 1910 in Forney and died January 10, 1989 in Herington, KS. He was the son of Paul Wesley and Lora Dozier and a 1927 graduate of Forney High School. He entered active duty in the army before Pearl Harbor on January 27, 1941. He served in the European Theatre of Operations from March 1, 1945 until June 6, 1945 as a Regimental Surgeon in the 86th Infantry Division. He and three others from his command were the first Americans to enter Hitler’s retreat at Berchtesgaden after Germany’s surrender. He received the ETO and Pacific Theatre  occupation forces service ribbons and bronze star for duty in a combat zone, the combat medical badge, and the French Croix de Gurre. He was discharged from active duty after returning from the Pacific Theatre on November 6, 1945 and resumed medical practice in Dallas, TX.

Dad and Hubert L. Chapman, whose service is described on your web site, were cousins (double cousins, in fact).

Special thanks to Paul Dozier for providing this information to us.
