Fifty years is a mighty long time for any institution to withstand the hardships of droughts, crop failures, panics and wars, an achievement of the Farmers National Bank – but equally as great or greater is that record of an individual who has had an active part in steering that institution through 29 years of that period. Such is the record of Carl C. Senter, vice-president and cashier of the Farmers National.

Mr. Senter came to Forney from New Mexico in 1908, to be with his sister, who was principal of the Forney school at that time. Before affiliating with the bank September 1, 1910, he was employed in the E.E. Reagin store. First serving the bank as bookkeeper, then assistant cashier, and later cashier and vice-president, Mr. Senter was made a director January 8, 1918, and took active charge of the bank’s affairs Feb. 24, 1930.

In April 1916 he was married to Miss Floy Douglas of Dallas, formerly of Forney, and they have two children, Carolyn, a 1937 graduate of Texas State College for Women, and a graduate student in SMU in 1938; Conway, a junior in Forney high. Affiliated with the Masonic Lodge, and Shriners, Forney Lions, a member of the Forney Christian Church, a member of Forney school board, and president of the Mesquite Soil Conservation association, Mr. Senter is a stabilizing influence in the affairs of the community.
